- Why is there both IR In and IR Out on both units or Which IR port do I use?
-
The HDC6LITE features Bi-directional IR Return. This means that when you are at the receiver/display, you can control the source device. Conversely, you can control the display/receiver devices from the source/transmitter end of the system.
Why would you want this?! Let’s look at a possible scenario. Say you have a TV in your kitchen, connected via the HDC6LITE to your AV equipment in your lounge/living room. You’re watching a movie and want to make popcorn without stopping the movie for your friends. You can use the remote for your kitchen TV in your lounge to turn it on. You can now walk to the kitchen and prepare your movie snacks without missing any of the movie! Sat back down without turning the TV off in the kitchen–no worries, simply turn it off after you’ve got comfortable. The beauty with bi-directional IR means that if you needed to ask everyone what drink they wanted, you could pause the movie from the kitchen, or reduce the volume so they could hear you calling!
So which ports do what? Simply imagine your IR signals as water flow–out of your remote, in your local HDC6LITE unit, out the other, and then into your device.
